Avoiding scams

Sadly, scammers sometimes target faith communities. InterChat has zero tolerance for this, but it helps to know what to watch for.

Never send money because of:

  • A fake "prayer fee" or "seed offering" demanded in exchange for a blessing, healing or miracle.
  • A fake ministry, charity or investment scheme.
  • Pressure, threats, or a promise tied to payment.

Legitimate churches and ministries may share how to give, but never through pressure or a promise of a spiritual or financial return.

Never send money to someone you haven't verified, even if their profile or story seems convincing — profiles and messages can be faked.

If you spot a scam, report it: open the person's profile → ⋯ → Report, or the message → long-press → Report. See Reporting and what happens next for what happens after. For anything urgent, email safety@interchathq.com.
