Muting a chat or community stops its routine notifications, but InterChat makes one exception: if someone @mentions you by name, you'll still be notified, even though the rest of the chat is muted.
This means you can mute a busy community to cut down the noise, without worrying that you'll miss something addressed specifically to you.
