There are two ways to find people you know on InterChat.
Search. Search by name or username at any time — this always works, with no setup needed.
Contact sync (optional). Tap Find people you know on the Chats screen and allow contact sync, and InterChat will show you which of your phone's contacts already use the app, so you can connect with them directly.
What we use it for. If you turn on contact sync, the names and phone numbers in your phone's address book are sent to InterChat only to match them against existing accounts and suggest people you might know. We don't use your contacts for anything else, and we don't share them with the people you're matched with.
It's entirely optional. You can turn contact sync off at any time in the app, and we'll stop using your contacts from that point on. Skipping it won't stop you using InterChat — you can always find people by searching instead.
